Valentine's Day is an odd holiday: for some people, it's super important, but for others, it's not especially significant. If you've been dating for 2 months, it's possible you both misunderstood each other's expectations for the day. It's totally valid to care about Valentine's Day and to be hurt that he didn't get you anything. She probably didn’t have too high expectations anyways. I’d say wait till your birthday to decide on how you really feel about this. Like Valentine’s Day is for the ladies. I didn’t do shit for my bf of 7 years lol on any Valentine’s Day actually, but then his birthday the day we celebrate HIM I go alll out. It's easy to feel a bit bummed or even overlooked if you were expecting a little something and it didn't happen, especially on a day like Valentine's Day, which is all about expressing affection. But here's the deal: not everyone views Valentine's Day with the same level of importance, and it doesn't necessarily reflect how she feels about you. No one really explained it that way to me. Thank you so much! It really does feel one-sided cause I do do everything. Not once has she ever tried to come see me, or like idk anything like that. I give her a ton of reassurance, try to meet every love language, etc. I just feel like i’m putting so much effort with not really anything in return. If your new partner doesn’t want to do something special for Valentine’s Day and you do, this suggests he’s just not that into you, or may signal important information about clashing values. Valentine’s Day, like many holidays, often tap into traditions and messages you’ve internalized since early childhood. It’s best to give this guy a nice breakup as a Valentine’s Day gift. My Husband Didn’t Get Me Anything For Valentine’s Day. We are not talking about some random boyfriend here; we are talking about your husband here. You expected a nice Valentine’s Day gift from him but didn’t get it. Maybe this is the reason: 1. Valentine's day is generally accepted to be a day to treat your wife/girlfriend well. My wife has literally NEVER got me anything for valentines day in the 17 years we've been together. I go all out for her though, every year. She knocks it out of the park on my bday, wedding anniversary, father's day, religious holidays. Using "I" statements instead of blaming the girlfriend can help prevent her from feeling attacked and create a more receptive environment for discussion. Instead of saying, "You didn’t do anything for me on Valentine’s Day," they could say, "I felt hurt when I didn’t receive any acknowledgement on Valentine’s Day." Q: Your partner does sweet and thoughtful things for you throughout the year but doesn’t plan anything special for Valentine’s Day. You’re upset. We are together almost 3 months. Today we went to movies and i got her present for Valentines. She just sad: Oh thank you,you didnt have to and didnt get me anything or said she was sorry os something like that. .. We had awesome 4 hours together and I acted like nothing happened but Im dissap I had gotten a babysitter for my son then, and was just going to update on time. That’s all. And he never gave me an update because he didn’t plan anything. We were going to celebrate Valentine’s Day tomorrow evening. I asked if he updated what time he planned something so I could update the babysitter. He said he didn’t plan anything. valentine's day is one of the dumbest holidays. i was never a fan of giving or receiving gifts and the like in general, so i wouldn't do anything for my partner and i wouldn't want him to do anything for me and i would refuse any gift unless he absolutely insisted on giving me one and was totally fine with not getting anything back. i do the My (24M) girlfriend (26F) didnt get me anything for valentines day I have been seeing this girl for 6 months, official for only about a month. She is tight on cash right now, but is about to be in a better financial position, I don't mind though so I help with groceries, dog food and other odds and ends. I totally get that, but she is and she is always very excited about even our month-adversaries. She was hyping up that she was excited about Valentine’s Day yet didn’t put in any effort. If she didn’t have to pay for anything if she didn’t want to, but if so she wouldn’t have said that she she would cook dinner (her plan, not mine). My girlfriend said to me not to buy her anything for Valentine's Day. She said all she wanted was to have a nice day with me. I still wanted to get her something (figured she'd be secretly upset if I didn't) so I bought her a couple of things. I'm in the EXACT same boat. I'm not a big Valentine's person, and we didn't really do much last year except go out to dinner. But now he's on the other side of the country and has been so busy over the last 6 months that I can't remember the last time he went out of his way to do something just to make me happy. A good descriptive title will get more attention. Min 15, Max 150 characters. I was always triggered around Valentine’s Day when they didn’t plan or get me anything. I realize it’s a dumb holiday but when they made zero effort the other 364 days, you hope that maybe on Valentine’s Day, when there are boxes of chocolate or bouquets of flowers front and center at every grocery store, they’ll do SOMETHING. Okay, so I really want to spend Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend (of about 4 months) but she decided that she was going to accept plans with her two friends (male and female) instead of hanging out with me because the female friend didn’t want to be alone on Valentine’s day. Which of course, leaves me alone.
