I now hate Valentine's day because yesterday my poor mum's house set on fire when she was out and her poor dog Henry was killed. I'm not single, but forever Valentine's will be marked by the sound of my mum screaming on the phone that her house was burning down. Many people hate Valentine's Day because it reminds them of being single. To this I ask, why is Valentine's Day celebrated? It is to celebrate love. This doesn't necessarily mean romantic love. You can still celebrate the love of your family, your friends, and even yourself. If you feel sad and lonely on Valentine's Day, treat yourself. But I’ve never been bothered by Valentine’s Day when I was single & now I’m in a relationship and still don’t care for the “holiday” Maybe I’m weird? Or maybe it’s just all perspective? If you find yourself saying "I hate Valentine's Day", these sucks-to-be-single quotes are just for you. But I have to say, Valentine’s Day has become, to me, the epitome of capitalism making money from things for no reason. Valentine's day just makes the single feel awful because it reminds them that they don't have someone; while others are posting selfies with their partner with some godawfully cringy captions like "Living my best life 🥰💖💞"
