I have no problem with couples celebrating Valentine’s Day IF they can do it without resentment and without getting caught up in unloving motives. If our expectations don’t work out, my prayer is that we may respond graciously and not assume the worst about our men. Valentine’s Day tends to create a LOT of specific expectations for women, thanks to heavy advertising. And, sadly, this day triggers a whole lot of disharmony in marriages and relationships. I believe this happens because sometimes we exalt Valentine’s Day to “idol status” in our hearts. I personally also dropped all expectations about Valentine’s Day and even birthdays and anniversaries. I don’t force my husband to get me anything. If he gets me something, I appreciate it and thank him. If he doesn’t, I am totally fine. I am so thankful for what God has done in our marriage and in my heart. I had no idea how unprepared I was to be a great wife. Or how much spiritual immaturity I had going on in my life. My Story. Because I read my Bible daily, knew lots of verses, only listened to Christian music, and went to church 3 times per week, I thought I was the best Christian wife ever.
