For mine and my SO's anniversary (which is only a week and a half off from Valentine's Day), I did a 365 note jar. The idea is that the person gets to open up one note every day for the next year with a message of some sort from you, usually things like your favorite memories with them, reasons you love/appreciate them. Hey Valentine's Day is my birthday too! It's awesome when you're with someone cause all the pressure is on her but when you're single Valentine's Day can be doubly lonely. Pro-tip: If you try and take a nice sweet girl out for dinner on Valentine's day and the restaurant is all booked up. I have a friend who I've know since I was 5. She and i happened to find ourselves both single and close to eachother on Valentine's Day. So we jokingly decided to spend it together so we aren't "total losers". I dress up, shirt, tie, jacket and drive 30 min to pick her up and she's in a slinky red dress with matching high heels. That was me until I was 27. I met my wife the Valentine’s Day after. We have a lovely daughter and a baby boy in his way (any day now!). Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean anything, hun. Don’t get caught up in the Hallmark holidays My bf of 3 years thinks Valentine’s Day is dumb because “we love each other every day”. I told him I love the romance and it’s just a day to something a little more special. My bf is not romantic at all. I asked him to plan something for Valentine’s Day and gave him a bunch of ideas. I told him I’d love flowers too. Posted by u/Low_Acanthaceae4104 - 1 vote and 11 comments I am a 25-year-old woman and I love men and I love Valentine’s Day. Here is my advice for you. Get 1 thing that is a traditional romantic gift, and get 1 thing that says something about your girlfriend’s personality. Or, even better, combine the two. For example, if she loves whales, you could get her candy that’s shaped like whales. It makes you want love all the more, which I think is a good thing. Relationship: be a fucking dork with the person you love. Go all out. Roses, presents, treat them extra special, maybe even organize a day off! Either way, I like Valentine’s Day for what it tries to represent, the celebration of love. IMO Valentine’s Day is a day to show the people you care about how much you love them. My mum was in an abusive relationship and only 4 years ago did they get a divorce. She never received flowers or chocolates or any sort of romantic gesture / gifts. r/IHateValentinesDay is a subreddit for expressing your dislike of Valentine's Day. My hubby is a romantic sentimental person whom made me a collage of pictures, first date, first Valentine's day card etc for our 20th anniversary. I was crying like a baby knowing he kept these things as I have the first rose etc he gave me and plan on doing it as a gift to him for our 25th anniversary even though it is two years away. We really don’t have any other major holidays between Christmas/New Year’s and Easter (yes St Patrick’s Day but you don’t really buy gifts/candy as much for that) The pandemic kind of threw things off for a bit, but I’ve spent most of my adult years throwing a big annual Valentines party. It now feels like party/friend holiday rather than a romantic holiday. I love my friends and I love Valentine’s Day For our first Valentine's Day together I gave my then boyfriend a little hippo stuffed animal. It had funny eyebrows that reminded me of his. Fast forward 10 years later, and my husband says if our house was on fire he would run back in to save that hippo. Moral of the story: it doesn't have to be a big gift, just something you put thought into. This is huge for me. Not necessarily Valentine’s Day but something that my wife does that means more to me than any gift is just the occasional mental health check and letting me know that she appreciates me and that she’s there for me. An act that may seem simple but truly means the most to me. 1 - Love Stinks by J.
