Which of the two new romantic films will put your date in the mood: "Safe Haven" or "Beautiful Creatures?" (There's "A Good Day to Die Hard," too, if violence gets you going.) Valentine's Day movies aren't just for date night.Sure, they're great for an evening cuddling on the couch with your significant other, or even your besties. In fact, now that I think about it, Safe Haven actually is the perfect Valentine’s Day date movie — provided, of course, that you and your date avoid it at all costs. I have been a movie fan for most of my life and a film critic since 1986 (my first published review was for "Platoon"). Wherever you find yourself this Valentine’s Day, Bridget has the movie recommendation for you. “Safe Haven” starring Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough is always a good choice. Valentine’s Day is coming up, and it doesn’t have to be absolutely terrible for everyone. Safe Haven may not be the most dangerous place to spend Valentine's Day — but it's hardly a worthwhile romantic choice. Wish I had a girlfriend so I could snuggle up on the couch with her and watch it :( HM's to Casablanca, Brooklyn, and An Affair to Remember. Phantom Thread is the best movie on the list but I am not sure how good of a date movie it is unless you have a girlfriend who's a little weird in a good way. My wife made me a box containing 52 dates. Some were blue sky dependant, some were an evening, some a weekend. We put a pin in a map of Wales and went on a road trip, had a picnic, went to a National Trust property, had a date in a bookstore, went on a food crawl where you have a starter in one restaurant, then a main in another and dessert in another. It was the perfect Valentine’s Day movie because it gave the audience a sense of security to let their hearts lay easy in their chests, knowing that love is still possible and out there somewhere.
