However, should it really be considered as a holiday? Shouldn’t one show their love and affection to their partner every day of the year, instead of just one? The very first time Valentine’s Day was celebrated was in the year 496 by the ancient Roman civilization. Although February 14 is now seen as a day of love, its origins may actually be much more sinister. There are multiple accounts of the origins of Valentine’s Day, and no one story is accepted as total Valentine’s Day is a highly debated holiday. Due to this, Valentine’s Day being considered a holiday has become a stable and quite enormous source of income for many retail companies like Walmart, Hallmark and local flower shops, just to name a few.
